Puckdoku

Hockey fans, get ready for a new kind of challenge with Puckdoku! This engaging puzzle game combines the strategic thinking of Sudoku with the rich history and statistics of the NHL. Each day, players are presented with a new 3x3 grid filled with different criteria, such as team affiliations, awards, season stats, and colleges. Your task is to select a player for each cell that matches the criteria for both the row and the column.

About Puckdoku

Puckdoku tests your knowledge of NHL players and their careers. To be considered valid, a player must have suited up for at least one NHL regular season game for the team in question. If the cell involves an award or season stat, the accomplishment must have occurred after 1999, though the player does not need to have been on the team when achieving it. For college criteria, the player must have been drafted from that college.

How to Play

  1. Understand the Grid: Each 3x3 grid has nine cells, each with specific criteria that combine the requirements of the cell's row and column.

  2. Select Players: Choose a player who fits the criteria for both the row and the column of each cell. Remember:

    • For team-related cells, the player must have played at least one NHL regular season game for that team.
    • For award-related cells, the player must have won the award after 1999.
    • For stat-related cells, the player must have recorded the stat in a completed season/game after 1999.
    • For college-related cells, the player must have been drafted from that college.
    • For combination cells, all criteria must be met.
  3. Use Players Wisely: Each player can only be used once per grid.

  4. Limited Guesses: You have nine guesses to fill out the entire grid. Each guess, whether correct or incorrect, counts towards this limit.

  5. Daily Challenge: A new grid is available every day at 5 AM EST, providing a fresh challenge to test your NHL knowledge.

Tips for Success

  • Think Broadly: Consider players with diverse careers who may have played for multiple teams or accumulated various stats.
  • Historical Knowledge: A good grasp of NHL history, especially post-1999, is crucial for success.
  • Strategic Planning: Plan your guesses carefully to avoid running out of options too soon.

Puckdoku offers a daily brain-teasing exercise for hockey enthusiasts, combining the fun of puzzles with the thrill of NHL trivia. Dive in, test your knowledge, and see if you can complete the grid without running out of guesses!
